We are delighted to welcome Dr. Jordi Díaz-Manera to Cure VCP Disease’s Medical Advisory Board! Dr. Díaz-Manera is a Professor of Neuromuscular Disorders at the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Center, Newcastle University (UK).

Academic Background and Expertise

  • Undergraduate studies in Medicine in Universitat Rovira I Virigili in Tarragona (Spain)

  • Trained from 2001-2005 in Neurology at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (HSCSP) in Barcelona

  • Fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (HSCSP)


He brings a wealth of experience in neuromuscular research and clinical care, along with strong connections to the European patient community. His current clinical research projects are focused on the characterization of large cohort of patients with muscular diseases, the implementation of quantitative muscle MRI for the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with muscular diseases and the development of new outcome measures for clinical trials and natural history studies. His expertise and decades of dedication to the field will be instrumental in guiding our efforts to improve the lives of individuals affected by VCP-related diseases and we are thrilled to have him on board! 


 

More About the Medical Advisory Board

The Medical Advisory Board (MAB) shall limit its activities to advising on matters that directly concern the organization's programs related to clinical care, diagnosis, and clinical trial readiness.


The specific scope of work of the MAB may include the following:

● Identifying and creating clinical resources for VCP.

● Identifying and helping to implement ways to increase diagnosis.

● Serving ad hoc at Cure VCP Disease Board Meetings.

● Serving as a non-political advocate for the organization.

● Assisting in planning scientific meetings and natural history studies.

● Assisting in creating clinical education materials for patients and clinicians
